Q Exam Preparation Workshop

  • The Lab by Royal Coffee NY 650 Hadley Road South Plainfield, NJ, 07080 United States (map)

This day long workshop is only open to students who are registered for the Q Course at the Lab the week of Feb 5-10th.

The Q Exam is infamous for being grueling, nerve racking, exhausting, and no matter the outcome, a tremendous learning experience.  Although the test is undeniably difficult, it’s also the hope of the CQI and the instructors giving the course that you’ll succeed.  Having gone through the Q themselves, Joe Borg and Ana Mallozzi from RNY want to give students who signed up for the Q course at The Lab a chance to warm up for the main event!

In this pre Q workshop, we will cover a few of the exercises you will be tested on for the Q:

Cupping and triangulations of the 4 coffee categories

Roast ID

Organic Acids

Practice with the Le Nez du Cafe kit

During the day, we will also expand on using the SCA cupping form and the other tests you’ll see in the Q.  This class is taught by Joe Borg and Ana Mallozzi, both certified Q graders themselves, so they can lend their insights into what helped them when they were in your shoes.

Lunch will be provided.
