The Q Grader License has become a leading certification in the coffee industry, commonly being likened to a wine sommelier. However, the purpose of the Q Grader License is rooted in improving the quality of coffee worldwide, as well as the lives of the people who produce it. It was created by the non profit Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) in order to establish a common language of quality within our industry.

The Q Grader Certification
Ask anyone who has taken it: the legendary Q Grader Certification is just as difficult as it’s notorious for. The 6 day course consists of 22 individual tests, all of which need to be passed in order to gain the license. Another thing people will tell you is that it’s an excellent professional development opportunity to become calibrated in properly grading coffee.
